This Week’s Events: March 11th Through March 16th

There’s always something going on in Enfield.  Whether it’s a meeting of local government, a fundraiser, a sporting event or just something that might be fun for the family, we encourage you to take part in what our community has to offer.  Here are just a few of the events taking place this week:

Monday, March 11th:

State Legislature Judiciary Committee Public Hearing: Public hearings will be hosted at the Legislative Office Building Room 2C (210 Capital Ave. in Hartford) at 10:00AM regarding proposed restrictions on 2nd Amendment rights.  For more information, please call 860-240-0555.

Smart Home Basics:  This is your opportunity to learn about Smart Home technology allowing you to automate your home.  This seminar is offered by the Enfield Public Library on March 11th at 6:30PM.  For more information, please call 860-763-7511.

Tuesday, March 12th:

Enfield Board of Education:  The Enfield Board of Education will meet at 7:00PM in the Town Council Chambers of Enfield Town Hall (820 Enfield St.).  Public communication is always welcome.  Let your voice be heard.  (Please note: Board members are not allowing to publicly comment about matters involving individual students or teachers due to privacy regulations.  If you have such concerns, it is better to talk to your school’s principal, central office or email members of the Board.)

 Evening Rhyme Time: Visit the Enfield Public Library at 6:30PM on March 12th for 30 minutes of nursery rhymes, songs and more.  These programs are designed to promote early language skills for children ages 2 and younger.  For more information, please call 860-763-7518 or 860-763-7512.

Wednesday, March 13th:

SRL Irish Dance Academy: The SRL Irish Dance Academy is coming to the Enfield Public Library on Match 13th at 4:00PM.  This program will feature Irish dancing as well as its history and information.  To register, please call 860-763-7512.

Jacob Carlander Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser: Please enjoy a meal from Red Robin located at 15 Hazard Avenue on March 13th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM and 10% of your bill will be donated to the Jacob Calander Memorial Scholarship Fund.  The sales coupon will be available at Red Robin.  Named after Jacob Carlander, who lost his battle with cancer in August of 2015, this scholarship is awarded in Jacob’s memory to students who are well-rounded, involved in sports, generous, caring and kind.

Friday, March 15th: 

Lincoln Day Dinner: Join the Enfield Republican Town Committee at our annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Friday, March 15th starting at 6:00PM.  The keynote speaker is Don Pesci, a political columnist of 35 years.  The Enfield RTC will be honoring Town Councilor, family man and business owner Joey Bosco as our Republican of the Year.  For tickets, please visit https://www.enfieldrtc.org/lincoln-dinner.

Waddling Ones: Enjoy some simple stories, songs, art and open play for your one-year-old at the Enfield Public Library on March 15th at 9:30AM.  This program in early literacy is appropriate for children between 12 and 24 months.  To register or for more information, please call 860-763-7512.

JFK Student vs. Faculty Basketball: The 5th Annual JFK Students vs Faculty Basketball Game will be held at JFK Middle School starting at 5:45PM.  Tickets can be purchased at the door: $2 for students, $4 for adults and $10 for a family pack (up to 5 family members).  For more information, please email jfkmiddleschool.pto@gmail.com.
