This Week’s Events: February 25th to March 2nd

There’s always something going on in Enfield.  Whether it’s a meeting of local government, a fundraiser, a sporting event or just something that might be fun for the family, we encourage you to take part in what our community has to offer.  Here are just a few of the events taking place this week:

Monday, February 25th:

Playgroup: Want you and your child to meet other families.  They can from 9AM to 11AM in the Lamagna Activity Center Gym at 19 North Main Street.  Moms, dads and caregivers get a chance to talk and relax while the children explore and play with educational toys and games.  For more information, including about program waivers, visit www.enfield-ct.gov/recreation or call 860-253-6420.

Adult Basketball: The Enfield Recreation Department is sponsoring 20 and over basketball at the JFK Middle School Gym between 6PM and 9PM (155 Raffia Road).  This is for Enfield residents at a cost of only $2 (Program Waiver required).  Sounds like a great deal for a little fun and activity.  For more information, visit www.enfield-ct.gov/recreation or call 860-253-6420.

Tuesday, February 26th:

Enfield Board of Education:  The Enfield Board of Education will meet at 7PM in the Town Council Chambers of Enfield Town Hall (located at 820 Enfield St.).  At this meeting, the Board will be appointing a member to the Joint Facilities Committee in addition to hearing presentations from CAS Student Leadership, the Book Buddy Benches and other updates from our Superintendent.  If you have questions of our members of the Board of Education, come to the meeting.  Otherwise, their contact information is on our Elected Officials page.

Wednesday, February 27th:

Loaves and Fishes Fundraiser: Come on down to Red Robin on Hazard Avenue between 5 and 9PM, order some food for the family and help out our local soup kitchen at the same time.  10% of your bill will go to benefit Enfield Loaves and Fishes.  Just be sure to pick up the coupon available in the Red Robin lobby.

Enfield Public Library: Susan Cummings will be performing her one woman show titled “Adventures in Liking My Looks: Normal Must Be So Boring!” at the Enfield Public Library at 630PM.  Already performed at numerous venues across New England, this show represents a fun and spirited journey to discovering that not being normal can also be beautiful.  To register, please call the library at 860-763-7512

Thursday, February 28th:

PJ Story Time: Appropriate for families and children (ages 3 – 7), join the Enfield Public Library at 630PM for PJ Story Time.  As the name suggests, pajamas are proper attire… even if they include a stuffed animal or two.  Maybe they’d like to hear a story, do a little dancing or make a few crafts.  If you have questions, please contact the library at 860-763-7512.

Friday, March 1st:

ERfC Hockey Night: Watch the Springfield Thunderbirds face off against the Hartford Wolfpack at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.  The game starts at 7:05PM.  Tickets are $15 and $3 from each ticket will be donated to the ERfC Before & After Schoolk Scholarship Fund.  Visit www.erfcinc.org/upcoming-fundraisers to purchase tickets.

Saturday, March 2nd:

July 4th Dinner Dance: At 6PM until Midnight on March 2nd at the Enfield Polish National Home (Old Country Banquet Facility) at 4 Alden Ave is the 14th Annual July 4th Dinner Dance.  This is an exciting evening that kicks off the 2019 Enfield July 4th Celebration season.  Tickets are $30 a person and the event is BYOB.  For tickets, contact Scott Kaupin at 860-749-1820 or Connie Provencher at 860-741-2415.  Hope to see you there.
